President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe, has extended heartfelt condolences following the tragic death of Dominic Frimpong after an armed robbery attack involving Berekum Chelsea.
The 20-year-old winger lost his life when the team’s bus was reportedly attacked while returning from a Ghana Premier League fixture, an incident that has sent shockwaves across the football community in Ghana and beyond.
In an official letter addressed to Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, Dr Motsepe expressed his deep sorrow over the devastating loss.
“It is with profound sadness that I learned of the armed robbery attack on the bus of Berekum Chelsea… which claimed the life of a 20-year-old winger Dominic Frimpong,” he stated.
The CAF president conveyed his sympathies on behalf of both himself and the continental football body, extending condolences to the player’s family, teammates, and the entire Ghanaian football fraternity.
“Please pass my personal and CAF’s deepest condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Dominic Frimpong and to the Ghana Football Association,” he added.
Motsepe also offered prayers and support during this difficult time, assuring all affected of CAF’s solidarity.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association is working closely with Ghana Police Service and other relevant authorities as investigations into the incident continue.
The tragedy has sparked widespread calls for swift justice, with stakeholders urging authorities to ensure those responsible are identified and held accountable.
